Messi Fined and Banned for Three months against ‘corruption’ comments

Asuncion: Famous Argentina football star, Lionel Messi banned from playing any national event football game for outraging ‘CONMEBOL’ of corruption. The star player is banned for three months and is charged 50,000 USD as fine.

Messi was playing COPA America in South America where he accused CONMEBOL, a football federation of doing corruption and cheating in the match between Argentina and Chile. Argentina lost the match by 0-2 in the third play-off tournament in July end.

Argentina claimed two penalties which were denied which lead to the defeat to the hosts. The 32 year claimed that the federation (CONMEBOL) is corrupt and they should have got those penalties. Lionel Messi was angered by two incidents during the June-July Copa hosted by bitter rivals Brazil. And when he was harshly dismissed in the next game, which Argentina went on to win 2-1, he couldn’t restrain his anger.

Messi said “Corruption and the referees are preventing people from enjoying the football and they’re ruining it a bit”. To this the governing body gave the statement on its website which didn’t specify why Messi was being punished but said it was related to articles 7.1 and 7.2 of its disciplinary regulations.

Article 7.1 and 7.2 clauses are “offensive, insulting behavior or making defamatory protests of any kind.” and “breaching the decisions, directives or orders of the judicial bodies.” CONMEBOL acclaimed it to be disrespect to the governing federation due to which Messi needs to bear the clause.
