No plastic bottles in meetings, soft copies to replace paper use in all UP Govt Departments.

Chief Secretary writes to all department head to maximize the use of soft copies for all official purposes.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath has directed state departments to not use plastic water bottles in meetings and promote the use of soft copies in its bid to do away with single-use plastic and avoid wastage of paper to safeguard the environment.

An official order in this regard has been issues by Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra on Tuesday evening.

The Chief Secretary in his orders said that despite repeated instructions, the departments have been presenting plastic cover and single-sided printed booklets, and that misuse of paper and use of plastic was not appropriate considering its adverse impact on the environment.

Urging the officials to become considerate towards protecting the environment and climate change, the senior officials issued directives to soft copies for official purpose to a great extent.

The order further said that that plastic cover and spiral binding should not be used, and all the files should be sent through e-office.
