Lucknow: The Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha (SCS) which is the student wing of the Samajwadi Party (SP) have come out with flying colours in the recently concluded student union elections of the Allahabad University which is popular as Oxford University of East, winning four out of five seats.

The Samajwadi Party’s Chhatra Sabha won four seats in the 2017 Allahabad University elections. On the other hand, ABVP was able to secure victory in just one seat.

The important posts of President, Vice President, Joint Secretary and Cultural Secretary went to the SCS whereas the post of Joint Secretary has gone to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) camp.

This result is contrary to the last two years of students’ election at the Central University when the ABVP in 2015 registered big win by securing four out of five seats except the post of president. In 2016 the ABVP won the posts of President and Joint Secretary.

Big jolt to BJP as Samajwadi party defeats ABVP in Allahabad University student union polls:

For the role of President, Avnish Yadav got a total of 3,226 votes, while Mrityunjay Parmar came in second with 2,674 votes, and ABVP’s Priyanka secured 1,588 votes.

Chandrasekhar, who was elected to the post of Vice President, got 2,249 votes, defeating Sumit Tiwari, who won 2,177 votes. Tiwari was the ABVP candidate.

ABVP secured the General Secretary post, while NSUI missed the bus completely.

Political parties had supported the student elections with full gusto. Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav, for instance, handpicked the team who would campaign for the candidates in the elections.
