New born baby rescued from a dry well in Badun district.

The umbilical cord of the child is also intact.

A newly born child abandoned in a 20-feet deep dry well in Basauni village in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district was miraculously rescued by a couple – who were working in their farm when they heard the baby’s cries.

The couple was identified as Prem Raj, 50, and his wife Somwati Devi, 48 were working as usual in their farm when they heard the child cry. When Prem Raj went down the well, he found a snake sitting next to the child which then slowly moved away.

Prem’s wife Somwati along with a few other villagers rushed the baby to the community health centre (CHC) in an ambulance where he was treated and later referred to a private hospital in Sambhal district.

Medical officer at the CHC in Sambal district said, the medical examination of the child found the child had only some bruises on his body. The umbilical cord was also found intact which suggests that he was born a few hours ago but he somehow managed to brave the cold night. The chances of the baby’s survival are high as vitals are normal. He was treated in the emergency ward.

Later, the police and child line team took custody of the baby.
