Two held for opening fake bank accounts in Gurugram

fraud_2Gurugram: Two Delhi-based women, including a teenager, were arrested by Gurugram police while they were trying to open fake bank accounts, police said on Thursday.The accused, Nitu Sharma, 19, and Pooja Sharma, 22, were arrested while they were opening fake bank accounts in a Central Bank of India branch at IMT Manesar here on Delhi-Jaipur National Highway 8.

“The accused, who are employed as ‘welcome girls’ in a Delhi-based event management firm, prepared fake documents in the name of Richa, a resident of Malviya Nagar and Vaishali, living at Vasant Kunj,” police officer Mandeep Kumar told IANS.The bank employees suspected a conspiracy by the activities of the women and the operation’s mastermind Sanjeev Kumar and informed the police.However, Sanjeev Kumar managed to flee the bank premises before the arrival of police.

“Accused were presented before the court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Devender Kumar who remanded them to 14 days judicial custody,” the officer said.He added that police are trying to establish the identity of Sanjeev Kumar on the basis of available CCTV footage and his mobile number as the arrested women were not aware of his address.
