12 Cheetahs to arrive at Kuno National Park from South Africa today.

Eight Cheetahs were released at Kuno National Park last year.

Twelve cheetahs which include five females, are being flown in from South Africa to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. Last year, eight Cheetahs from Namibia were released into the Kuno National Park

The Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Friday tweeted that the cheetahs had begun their journey. “Get ready to welcome them,” he wrote on his twitter handle.

The 12 cheetahs were sedated and loaded in the Indian Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster aircraft which will fly them to India and will land at the Gwalior Air Force base on Saturday.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will release the cheetahs into their quarantine enclosures in the Kuno National Park, spread over 750 km in the state’s Chambal region.
