Educational Institutes to remain shut till March 31 in Pune

The educational institutes, consisting of schools and colleges, in Pune will remain closed till March 31, 2021, in view of the increase in the Covid-19 cases across the city, said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who is also the Guardian Minister of Pune.

Earlier, the authorities in Pune had decided to keep the schools and colleges in the city closed till March 14, but keeping in mind the current Covid-19 pandemic situation in Maharashtra, the closure of schools has been extended for the time being.

As the schools in Pune remain closed, online classes are being conducted for students of all the classes. The schools in Pune were shut down in March 2020 due to the pandemic and physical classes have been suspended since then.

Board exams not cancelled

The schools and colleges in Maharashtra had reopened in cities such as Pune and Mumbai but were shut down due to the increase in Covid-19 cases. The government of Maharashtra has announced the reopening of schools from February 2021.

Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has also stated that the board exams for classes 10 and 12 will not be cancelled and will be conducted as per schedule. The exams will be conducted in offline mode for both classes.

Many students have been pushing for the cancellation of class 10 board exams in Maharashtra due to the pandemic situation. The government has stated that they will ensure the safe conduction of board exams keeping in mind the current situation in the state.
