Dale Steyn not in T20 squad in spite of being fit and available

New Delhi: South Africa will play against India in the upcoming home series of T20’s, ODI and Test matches. Dale Steyn, who announced his retirement from test to focus more on the shorter format of the game, was not a part of CSA (Cricket South Africa) squad to India.

Dale Steyn, who is prone to many injuries in the past has good track record against India. Inspite of making himself available for selection in the South Africa Tour to India, he was not picked up in the team. He is absolutely fit and is ready to play however it is said that due to some change in the coaching staff, he was not able to contact them after the selection took place on Wednesday.

He Tweeted and said that he is sorry for Virat and team for not being a part of the team. Steyn had joined the Euro T20 Slam as a marquee player after being ruled out of the World Cup 2019 for failing to recover from a shoulder injury he picked up during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. Steyn has also played 201 T20s and has scalped 231 wickets, with the best bowling figures of 4/9.

The 36-year-old has represented South Africa in 44 T20Is, picking up 61 wickets at an average of 17.50. For a fast bowler, he also has a decent economy of 6.79 in the shortest format of the game.
