Truck driver died in an accident as truck overturns

LUCKNOW: A 22-year-old truck driver died in an accident after a truck coming from behind rammed his vehicle in Itaunja causing it to overturn.

According to police, the deceased truck driver, identified as Surjit Singh of Sitapur, was ferrying goods from Bihar to New Delhi.

At around 5am, when he reached Manpur Mandi a truck coming from behind hit his truck which hit the divider and overturned, killing Singh on the spot.

Police rushed to the spot on being informed and took Singh to KGMU Trauma Centre where doctors declared him brought dead. In another incident, unidentified armed miscreants thrashed a 40-yearold bookseller in Malihabad on Monday evening in an extortion bid.

 Akhilesh Nigam, owner of a book-shop in `Galla-Mandi’ said in his complaint to the police that he was closing the shop for the day around 7 pm when three-men came on a bike.
“They enquired about my daily earning and told me to give them money and thretened to kill me else.When I warned to call the police, they thrashed me with sticks,” said Nigam.
Superintendent of police (rural) Satish Kumar said that a case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched for the accused.
