Gurugram: Sex rackets operating out of three spas in prominent shopping malls on MG Road were busted by police on Thursday evening. Eleven people, including 10 women, have been arrested and booked under the Immoral Traffic Act, while three persons managed to escape, cops said.

Acting on a tip-off, three special teams were formed by the Gurgaon police — each headed by an ACP-rank officer. The first team, led by ACP (Sadar) Anil Yadav, conducted raids at Balneno Spa in DT Mega Mall around 6.30 pm after sending in a decoy customer.

“As per the secret information, we sent a fake customer into the spa. He met the manager of the spa and then finalised a deal with one of the women and also gave her Rs 2, 500. After receiving a signal from him, we conducted the raid at the spa and arrested the woman, along with two other women, and the manager of the spa. We also recovered Rs 2, 500 from the women, which was given to her by the decoy customer,” said ACP Yadav.

The women, aged between 25 and 30 years, have been identified as natives of Manipur, Faridabad and Gurgaon. “The manager has been identified as a resident of Patel Nagar in Delhi. All those arrested were produced in a city court on Thursday. While the manager and one woman were sent to judicial custody, two other women have been granted bail,” said inspector Devender Kumar, SHO, DLF-I police station.

Around the same time, the second team, led by ACP (DLF) Harinder Kumar, raided Relax Spa situated on the third floor of MGF Metropolitan Mall after a decoy customer confirmed their suspicions. Two women working in the spa and its manager were arrested, while the owner managed to flee, Kumar said.

Five women and the spa’s manager were held. The women are natives of Bihar, Nepal, Uttarakhand and Delhi. “All the six accused were produced in court. Four women were granted bail, while the manager and one woman were sent to judicial custody,” said inspector Umesh Kumar, the investigating officer.
