homeNew Delhi: Featuring comedies, thrillers, action movies, romances, dramas — the ongoing ‘MyFrenchFilmFestival’ showcases the diversity of French cinema, offering worldwide visibility to the selected films. The seventh edition of ‘MyFrenchFilmFestival’ kicked off on Monday to promote the vibrancy and exuberance of new-generation French cinema.Being organised by the French Embassy and Institut Français, the online festival will be on till February 13. It is perhaps the first entirely dematerialised French film festival and takes place all across the world at the same time.

With more than 6.5 million screenings in 2016 across 206 territories, the festival will feature an exciting selection of 30 feature films and short films this year. All films are subtitled in 10 different languages. “The idea is to have an online festival that is accessible to the largest number of spectators who cannot easily watch French films,” Attaché for Innovation and Multimédia Institut Français, Pierre Laburthe, “And this year, ‘MyFrenchFilmFestival’ brings some novelty. First of all, it will have special screenings in theatres,” he said, adding: “In India, it will have some screenings in some Alliance françaises centres all over the country.

Audiences will have the opportunity to rate these new films and also vote for their favourites. Laburthe said that the festival, geared towards Internet users worldwide and available for one month, features a selection of 10 shorts and 10 feature films in competition.”There are two Belgian films in competition, two French-Canadian films and two French-language Swiss films that will be out of competition,” he said. The festival will also commemorate the legendary French actress, Françoise Dorléac, who died in tragic circumstances fifty years ago.
