CAT: Solve Amitabh cadre case in 03 months

CAT: Solve Amitabh cadre case in 03 monthsLucknow: Lucknow bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has directed the Government of India to decide over the application sent by IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on 16 June 2016 for changing his Cadre from Uttar Pradesh to any other State. The bench of Judicial member Justice Vishnu Chandra Gupta passed this order after hearing Amitabh’s counsel Dr Nutan Thakur, Union government counsel Shatroghan Lal and State government counsel Sudip Seth.

The State government intimated CAT that it has no objection to Amitabh’s Cadre transfer while the Union government said it will act as per law. Alleging serious harassment in his service and threat to life, after the Mulayam Singh phone threat made on 13 July 2015, Amitabh had sought his Cadre change, saying that the situation is deteriorating every day and the State government officials are treating him as a sworn enemy. A roving and fishing exercise is being carried to find anything against him and to initiate Departmental proceedings, merely to harass and torment him. Hence he had sought transfer of his Departmental enquiries to any other State government as well.
