Tum Bin 2 movie cast: Neha Sharma, Aditya Seal, Aashim Gulati, Kanwaljit Singh

Director: Anubhav Sinha

Producer: Bhushan Kumar

The director producer duo of Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar who made their debut with TUM BIN have failed to live upto expectation in TUM BIN II, the sequel to Tum Bin that is set to hit the screen after 15 years of the first part.

The film is about a couple, Taran (Neha Sharma) and Amar (Aashim Gulati), who go on a vacation to Glasgow and plan their future together. On a fateful day, Amar goes skiing, meets with an accident and his body is not found for days. He is assumed dead, leaving Taran and his father (Kanwaljit Singh) distraught.

Soon, Amar’s father introduces Taran and her family in Scotland to his late friend’s son Shekhar (Aditya Seal), who helps her to laugh and love once again despite the fact that Amar still lives in her memories. Slowly, love starts developing between the two, but one day, the news of Amar’s survival arrives. Once Amar is back into the scene, Shekhar decides to leave everything and go back to India. Taran confesses her love for Shekhar to Amar.

Neha Sharma has donned similar roles earlier but looks promising in the film.  She has done justice to the opportunity she got and her cute face works in her favour. Aditya Seal (who made his acting debut as a teenager with the controversial EK CHHOTI SI LOVE STORY) may also get noticed after TUM BIN II because he gets to display a wide range of emotions right in the film.

Debutante Aashim Gulati remains primarily absent in the first half but makes the most of what he has got in the second half. Kanwaljit Singh plays the role of a father to perfection who undergoes the trauma of losing his son and finally getting him back again.

Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar may have had thought about making a sequel to Tum Bin… after the title track of Tum Bin… was reused in SANAM RE, which released earlier this year and was directed by Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Khosla Kumar, so TUM BIN II seems partially inspired by the prequel because a lot of the plot points of the prequel is also present in the sequel and the film also discusses the burning issue of India-Pakistan conflict in a slightly humorous manner; one that won’t hurt anybody’s sentiments.

The music of Tum Bin… is still a hit among the audience so matching the success of the prequel’s soundtrack must have been difficult and music directors Ankit Tiwari and Nikhil-Vinay (who were also one of the music directors of Tum Bin…) have done a fantastic job in TUM BIN II with songs like ‘Ishq Mubarak’ and ‘Dekh Lena’ to name a few. However, the song that is the highlight of the film is ‘Teri Fariyad’, sung by Rekha Bhardwaj and in which, parts of the song ‘Koi Fariyaad’, that was sung by late Jagjit Singh in Tum Bin…, have been mixed along with the voice of Rekha Bhardwaj without any changes.

The other highlight of Tum Bin II is the locations of Glasgow and Scotland, which have been presented in a beautiful manner in the film. Overall, Anubhav Sinha has brought back unadulterated romance in Hindi cinema with TUM BIN II which might not appeal too many, but those who like to watch old-school kind of romance might find it appealing thus TUM BIN II deserves two out five stars.
