Rajya Sabha adjourned, Cong disrupts proceedings

New Delhi: The main opposition Congress party today disrupted the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha following an alleged summon of an Assembly session of Arunachal Pradesh by the governor.

Soon after the house met for the day, leader of opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad raised the issue which was opposed by the government.

Citing the recommendations made by the governor to convene the assembly session to remove Speaker of the house, Azad said, “Democracy is being murdered in Arunachal Pradesh. Governor is behaving like a dictator.”

Leader of the house Arun Jaitley said the proceedings of an assembly can not be discussed in this house. “It will set a wrong precedent.”

Congress members trooped into well shouting slogans.

Amid the din Deputy Speaker P.J. Kurien adjourned the house for 15 minutes.
