Delhi witness surge in Covid-19 cases yet again: Check number of cases and deaths here

After a slump following the Omicron surge at the beginning of the year, Covid-19 cases in Delhi are again on the rise.

Delhi registered 176 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours on Thursday, which is 40 per cent more than what was recorded on Wednesday. A total of 10,453 tests were conducted.

On Wednesday, the city saw 126 fresh cases. While the positivity rate was 1.68 per cent on Thursday, it had been 1.12 per cent on Wednesday. Zero deaths were recorded on Thursday while one was registered on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Delhi reported 112 new cases and zero deaths. The positivity rate was 1.05 per cent.

With 176 fresh cases on Thursday, Delhi’s overall Covid-19 count has risen to 18,65,796. The cumulative toll stands at 26,155.

As of Thursday, 362 patients were under home isolation in Delhi. There are 9,745 beds for Covid-19 patients in Delhi hospitals and 39 (0.40 per cent) of them are presently occupied, as per government data.

OMICRON SURGE

Delhi hit its highest-ever daily Covid tally on January 13 this year with 28,867 cases in 24 hours.

The city recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14. These high numbers were largely due to the extremely transmissible Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
