BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) approved Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ticket from Ayodhya constituency in the assembly elections, said sources on Thursday.

The Central Election Committee (CEC) held a meeting on Thursday to discuss the names of candidates for 94 seats out of 113 seats in the first two phases of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

BJP president JP Nadda has been given to decide the names of the candidates for the 19 seats.

The BJP is likely to announce candidates for the Uttar Pradesh polls in the next two days.

Earlier, it was speculated that Yogi Adityanath might contest elections from either Mathura, Ayodhya or Gorakhpur. Yogi Adityanath is a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in Uttar Pradesh.

The Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh will take place in seven phases from February 10 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10.

The BJP is already facing a major setback with the resignation of eight MLAs.
