Conflict between government and Facebook increased in Australia

The issue of content payments between the government and social media lords was seen on Australian citizens. When people opened their Facebook page, the news content did not get to see any post. Not only this, but Facebook has also banned its home page in Australia. This move of Facebook has affected the emergency services very badly.

The move has been strongly criticized by the news producers and MPs from the social media giants. Many of them stated that official health and meteorological pages have also been removed amidst the coronavirus epidemic and summer fire incidents in Australia. Due to this, common people are facing a lot of trouble.

Angered by the Australian government’s new rule, Facebook stopped posting news on Australian news websites from Thursday morning. Along with this, Facebook banned Australian users from opening news of any news website, domestic or foreign, from their platform. Facebook said that it is imposing a moratorium against the legislation in the Australian Parliament.

It is worth mentioning that 81 percent of Australia’s online advertising is occupied by Google and Facebook. In such a situation, the Australian Government has prepared a draft related to the payment by Google and Facebook in exchange for the publication of news. Here, Google had threatened to shut down its search engine in Australia when the proposed legislation was introduced in Parliament. At the same time, Facebook said that if it was forced to pay in exchange for news, it would ban the people of Australia from sharing the news. Now it seems to be happening.
