The Allahabad High Court has stayed the final selection list under the recruitment of Assistant Professor in various departments of Lucknow University. However, the High Court has ordered to continue the selection process of recruitment to the university.

The Lucknow High Court bench has taken an interim roll on the release of the final selection list of the university during the hearing on Monday, 15 February 2021, of a petition filed by a candidate for the post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology of the University. In this petition, the provisions applicable for the reservation of seats in various departments have been challenged.

The bench of Justice Irshad Ali of Lucknow division bench of Allahabad High Court, hearing the case, continued the selection process for the petitioner and general category candidate from Lucknow University, Dr. Preeti Singh, while vacating the petition till the completion of the hearing. It is allowed to keep. In the recruitment advertisement released in September 2020 by the petitioner Dr. Preeti Singh, the process of recruitment for four posts in the Department of Anthropology has been challenged.

According to the petitioner’s plea, all four posts have been reserved due to Lucknow University being considered as a unit. In such a situation, she (petitioner) has been deprived of the application. On the other hand, on behalf of Lucknow University, the Advocate informed the bench that a 10% additional Central Government reservation has been implemented by the University on 7 March 2019. After this, a single bench of Justice Irshad Ali has directed the university to file its counter affidavit within two weeks. The next hearing of the case is to be held on 10 March 2021.
