J&K: Four militants killed and a policeman injured in an encounter at Nagrota toll plaza

Four militants killed and a policeman injured in an encounter at Nagrota toll plaza

The militants lobbed a grenade when the safety forces requested them to cease on the Ban Toll Plaza, triggering an encounter, the police stated.

Four unidentified militants were killed and one policeman was injured in a gunfight that broke out at a toll plaza on the 270-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Jammu’s Nagrota area on Thursday morning.

“Four terrorists have been neutralised and one police constable was injured in the encounter at the Ban Toll Plaza, Jammu, with a joint team of the police, the CRPF and the Army. The area is being sanitised,” a police spokesman said.

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said a group of four JeM terrorists had infiltrated into India through the International Border in Samba on Wednesday night

These militants were travelling from Jammu to Srinagar in a vehicle when the security forces intercepted them around 5 a.m., “following a tip-off”.

Preliminary reports suggest the militants may have been crossed the border recently from the Samba Sector and were on the way to south Kashmir.

Earlier, on January 31, three militants were killed when they opened fire at a joint party of the police and the CRPF at the Ban Toll plaza in Jammu.
