New Delhi: A 64-year-old newly elected BJP’s MP from Balasore in Odisha, Pratap Chandra Sarangi who is also known as ‘Modi of Odisha ‘got charge of the Minister of State in Narendra Modi government.

The BJP MP from Odisha’s Balasore district who is selected as Minister first time after defeating his BJD rival Rabindra Jena, industrialist-turned-politician and a former MP by almost 12,000 votes in Lok Sabha elections.

The saffron party flag holder Pratap Chandra Sangragi has experienced of being part in the Odisha Legislative Assembly twice.

With his first election in 2004 from Nilagiri and again in 2009 as Independent candidate won for BJP ticket. However, defeated by Rabindra Jena in 2014.

A bachelor like Narendra Modi, reside in a simple and severe condition with no comfort and lives in a roof covered with straw hut. He used to live with his mother who died last year.

This Saffron leader is financially weak among 542 MPs he was least resourceful with the benefit of 13 lakhs whereas BJD lawmaker Pinaki Mishra with Rs 117 crore, BJP MPs Sangeeta Singhdeo and Nitesh Gangdeo came second and third in the asset list.

According to his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission, since he did not have a taxable income Sarangi has not paid income-tax in the last five financial years.

As Modi concluded his oath over thousands of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters all dressed in saffron kurtas, vests and even saris, rent the air with shouts of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.

Famous personalities from diverse fields, Heads of state, government or their representatives of The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) member states, Kyrgyzstan and Mauritius attended the ceremony, as did several industrialists, including Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani and his family.
