Washington: The United States Navy battleship conducted ‘Freedom of Navigation’ operation this Sunday in South China Sea. This move by America will increase tension in trade union among the two countries as these two largest economies going to be more serious now.

The US Army has deployed warships near Scarborough Shawl in the South China Sea, this maritime area on which not only China but also Philippines and Taiwan have been occupying it.

Earlier, this month US President Donald Trump hiked tariffs in Chinese goods in retaliation from June 1st. On other hand, China will raise tariffs in merchandise.

The US President also barred American companies to engage in telecommunication trade with foreign countries for US national security.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) organized air and naval forces to warn the US military to leave, after it entered waters near China.

However, the US Navy says that purpose of Freedom of Navigation is to make world’s attention on disputed land.

PLA’s Southern Theatre Command spokesman Li Huamin said, “The relevant actions from the US side endanger the safety of both Chinese and American ships and personnel and undermine China’s sovereignty and safety. We express our resolute opposition.”

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang at a press briefing said that, “We strongly urge the US side to immediately stop such provocative actions so as to not harm China-US relations and the peace and stability of the region.”

Beijing built artificial islands and military installations in the sea and China claims nearly all of the sea though Taiwan, Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam all claim parts of it.

Meanwhile India and Singapore’s navies conduct bilateral exercises in South China Sea on Sunday. This exercise will run until May 22. The Indian Navy has participated in this exercise with its Pacific patrol aircraft Poseidon-81.
