“I got the credit for BJP’s successive wins in the state and as this election was fought on my name, I take moral responsibility for the defeat,” Raman Singh, who was Chief Minister for 15 years, said as it became clear that the Congress was headed for a thumping victory in the 90-member House.

He said: “I congratulate Congress on this success.”

The party would analyse the reasons for its debacle in the state which it ruled for 15 years to find out the shortcomings, he added.

He said the result will have no impact on the next Lok Sabha polls.

Elections for the 90-member Assembly were held in two phases in the state on November 12 and 20.
