New Delhi: Hyundai is gearing up for the launch of the new Santro in the Indian market and the hatchback is codenamed as AH2. Now, leading automobile reported that the new Hyundai Santro will be launched in the country on October 23, 2018. Hyundai has already released the first sketch of the AH2 hatchback.

The report also states that the new Hyundai Santro will be officially revealed on October 9, 2018. The official name of the car will be revealed on October 4, 2018.

Hyundai has been testing the new Santro on Indian roads for quite some time and we have already got an idea of how the hatchback will look like. The new Santro will feature the signature cascading grille up front.

The new Santro will retain the tallboy design and the hatchback will feature a sharp design and it will also get a slightly sloped roof and a prominent shoulder line. The new Santro is also expected to feature a roof-mounted spoiler, flared wheel arches and the top-spec trim of the car might also get LED DRLs.

The interior of the new Santro is expected to feature a dual-tone theme in the form of black and beige colour. The seat upholstery will be premium and will also match the interior colour. Other features will include a three-spoke steering wheel, twin-pod instrument cluster and a small MID unit.

On the mechanical front, the new Hyundai Santro is likely to draw power from a 1-litre petrol engine. Hyundai might also introduce an AMT gearbox as it is becoming very popular among the entry-level hatchbacks. The new Santro will be equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Hyundai has also started the naming campaign for the new AH2 hatchback called as ‘Naamkaran’. The company has invited name suggestions for the upcoming hatchback which will have a new name as a suffix to the Santro moniker. The name of the car will be also revealed on October 9 along the car.

The new Hyundai Santro will replace the Eon which has been a low-selling car in the Indian market. The new Santro will be a crucial product for the South Korean automaker as it was the brand that helped the company to grow in India. The new Hyundai Santro will rival the likes of Maruti Alto K10, Renault Kwid and the Tata Tiago.
