Supreme Court puts ban on outsiders from offering Namaz at Taj Mahal

New Delhi: The honourable Supreme Court today dismisses the petition filed against the district administration’s order of prohibiting non-locals form entering the mosque of Taj Mahal.

SC today ruled that the outsiders are not allowed to enter the mosque. It said there are other mosques in the city, why Taj Mahal?

It ordered that Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, it should be preserved and its security is of paramount importance.

Earlier on January 24, Additional District Magistrate prohibited non- locals visiting the monument from offering namaz in Taj mahal’s mosque.

 

Supreme Court prohibit outsiders from offering Namaz at Taj Mahal Mosque:

 

This step was taken to ensure security of the monument. Also, it was ordered that local people have to carry identity cards with them to proof that they are residents of Agra.

Failing to which they will not be allowed to enter the premises. Other than that, Taj would be closed for the tourists on Friday.

Syed Ibrahim Hussain Zaidi, president of Taj Mahal Masjid Management Committee, Agra filed a petition against the order and told the SC bench that there is huge number of tourists throughout the year who come to visit the monument but the order is restricting them from offering prayers.

He also added that it is illegal and arbitrary. But the bench refused the plea and ruled to not allow the non-residents form offering prayers in Taj.
