New Delhi: The Central Government on Tuesday announced that from now employees get paid leave for blood donation, the personal ministry has said. As Per present, service rules allow leaving for whole blood donation and not apheresis donation he said.

The Ministry of Personnel recently announced paid leaves to the government employees who make blood donations.

It is felt that the rule should cover apheresis donation as well since it will have the added advantage of getting blood components like platelets, plasma, etc, the ministry said in an order issued recently.

“It has now been decided that Special Casual leave may be granted for blood donation or for apheresis (blood components such as red cells, plasma, platelets etc.) donation at licensed blood banks on a working day (for that day only).”

Now government employees to get paid leave for this social cause of blood donation:

“They said the rules apply only to blood donation now and that appears does not possess. The Ministry sources said that it was a holiday that was given to Pilates and Plasma during Aperisiss. And this holiday has been ordered only 4 times per year and has been ordered to submit the documents.”

Presently, the rules apply only to those government employees who make ‘whole’ blood donation, and not ‘apheresis’ donation.

In ‘apheresis’ blood donation, a machine collects the blood and separates platelets, red blood cells, and plasma, and returns the required blood component to the donor.

The recent order issued by the ministry stated that there is a need to cover those who make apheresis donations as well.

They hope the incentive will help encourage the employees, thus, giving an additional benefit of obtaining different blood components such as plasma, platelets and so on.
