LUCKNOW: An explosion led to a lot of commotion on October 4 evening at Lucknow district court compound. While thousands of lawyers present at the court premises were busy with their work, a loud explosion distracted their routine.

Advocate Rohitkant Srivastava was present near the site when the incident took place. “We were worried if repeat of 2007 multiple court bombings have taken place. But thankfully it did not turn out as worse. But somebody played mischief and needs to be taught a lesson,” said Srivastava.

Charred jute threads and gunpowder traces were found on the cistern installed inside the bathroom. Wazirganj police rushed to the site and also summoned bomb disposal squad.

SSP Deepak Kumar too visited the spot. “Though prima facie it appears that somebody has used a cracker and played mischief, we will ask forensic experts to determine the type of explosive used,” added Kumar.

Police said that the area where explosion took place is widely used by lawyers and visitors. Probes were on to trace the people responsible for triggering the blast.
