Another army soldier dies in ‘accidental fire’ near LoC

Jammu: Another Indian army soldier was today accidently killed during cross border firing near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

 

 

According to Army official said on Wednesday, a soldier was killed in accidental fire on the LoC in Kashmir valley.

One soldier had died on Monday in ‘accidental fire’ on the LoC in Mendhar sector of the same district.

 

 

Defence Ministry Spokesman, Lt. Col. Manish Mehta told media persons: “A soldier was killed in accidental fire in Bhimber Gali (BG) sector late last night.”

The spokesman had on Tuesday denied the media reports that said the soldier’s death in Mendhar had resulted from a sniper shot from across the LoC.

 

 

Pakistan Army had also continued indiscriminate firing and mortar shelling in Naushera sector of the LoC in Rajouri district on Monday.

Earlier, it was reported that the soldier died in Pakistan sniper firing on late Monday evening near the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Poonch.

But defence spokesman Lt. Col. Manish Mehta denied that there was any firing from the Pakistani side on Monday in Mendhar.
