Kabul: Suicide bombers stormed into the national television station in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad today, triggering gunfights and explosions as journalists remained trapped inside the building, as told by officials and eyewitnesses.

In this horrifying incident four persons, including two attackers, were killed as militants attacked the state-owned national TV building in Afghanistan’s eastern city of Jalalabad on Wednesday.

Four people, including two of the attackers, have been confirmed dead and six others were injured, authorities told media.

A group of suicide bombers targeted government offices, including the Governor’s house, a police station and the TV station in Jalalabad, triggering gun battles between security forces and the insurgents.

According to a press photographer “he fled the building as soon as the gunfight erupted, but many of his colleagues were still stuck inside.” Unconfirmed reports said that Islamic State militants have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Islamic State insurgents are active in Nangarhar province, of which Jalalabad is the capital.

The US military last month dropped the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb-dub the “Mother Of All Bombs”- on IS positions in Nangarhar, killing dozens of jihadists.
