Four shot dead in backyard in California

California: At least 10 people were shot, including four who were killed, during a backyard party at a Fresno home where a group had gathered to watch football, Fresno police said. The shooting took place about 6 p.m. Sunday on the city’s southeast side.

The suspects sneaked into a backyard filled with family and friends who were watching a football match and opened fire into the crowd around 6pm, Fresno Police Lieutenant Bill Dooley said.

Deputy Chief Michael Reid told local media a total of 10 people were shot, with three found dead in the backyard. A fourth victim died at the hospital. Six others are expected to survive and are recovering at hospital.

Police said about 35 people had congregated in the backyard near East Lamona and Caesar Avenue for a “family and friends gathering” to watch a Sunday night football game. Everyone was watching a football game this evening when unknown suspects approached the residence, snuck into the backyard and opened fire.

Police are going door to door seeking surveillance footage and witnesses to gain information on the suspect, according to Dooley. There was no history of calls for service at the home where the shooting took place.
