Vishal Dadlani not happy with the remix trend

Mumbai: Remixes have become the latest trend of Bollywood. This trend does not sit well with singer-composer Vishal Dadlani. The singer has had enough of it, and has now threatened to sue what he called “vultures’’, who dare to remix his Shekhar Ravjiani and his songs.

Vishal Dadlani, on Wednesday, took to twitter to share a ‘warning’. He warned music companies to not remix Vishal-Shekhar songs without their permission, else he will ‘move court against the films & musicians’.

Vishal, who is one half of the film music producing duo Vishal–Shekhar and has delivered a number of hits, tweeted, “Warning: I WILL sue anyone making remixes of Vishal & Shekhar songs. I’ll even move court against the films & musicians. After Saaki Saaki, I hear upcoming bastardisations include Dus Bahaane, Deedaar De, Sajnaji Vaari Vaari, Desi Girl & more.”

“Make your own songs, vultures!,” wrote Vishal.

Vishal Dadlani’s post is gaining a lot of attention on social media.

In a separate statement, Vishal Dadlani said that remixing songs without permission is “robbery, nothing more,” reported news agency PTI. He said, “I shall certainly exercise my legal rights if needed and even move courts against the films and the musicians, if it comes down to it. It’s not fair that anyone should be able to do this, and I’m sure that the courts will see this for what it is. Daylight robbery of work, credit, opportunity and most crucially creativity. Once again, I would like to ask my fellow musicians not to remix Vishal and Shekhar songs without our permission, due credit and remuneration. That is robbery, nothing more. Stop doing this, show some spine, and let yourself and all musicians be respected as a community.”

Vishal-Shekhar’s super hit track ‘Saaki Saaki’ from Sanjay Dutt’s Musafir was recently recreated for John Abraham’s Batla House. The original song has been remixed by music composer Tanishk Bagchi. This trend is currently catching up with almost every film.

This trend has been also been surrounded by controversies as the original singers and composers have often expressed their displeasure. In a recent incident, musician Dr Zeus slammed makers of Ayushmann Khurana’s Bala for plagiarism.
