Periods are an important part of every woman’s life and period cramps are expected to be common at this time. Some women feel extreme pain during menstruation. These cramps or pain are the signs that all is not well with your body. The reason can be a lot of stress or unhealthy diet.  Period pain, sometimes start with the first day accompanied by hormonal changes that causes mood swings, anxiety and fatigue.  The menstruation week in a woman’s life becomes quite distressful due to all these reasons. There is no exact way to cure the period pain but you can control it by changing some of your lifestyle habits.  Here are some tips that you can follow for the same:

A healthy diet:

Cut on the fats and increase the intake of green vegetables. Low- fat diet decreases the inflammation in your body and you can easily maintain good health too.  Use Olive oil instead fatty unsaturated products. You can also avoid fast food during this period of time.

Tea over coffee:

Teas are always good for your health if taken in proper amount. The heat of tea increases blood flow and reduces pain.  A cup of green tea or hot water with few drops of lemon in it can also reduce pain. Tea with a bit of ginger can also be soothing.

Gentle Exercise:

Exercise is the last thing you expect to do when in periods but a gentle exercise can reduce premenstrual anxiety and distract you from the pain. Yoga or light exercise can naturally lower the pain.

Heat:

Heat can give you relief from the period pain. Heat sooths the muscle tension and reduces the pain. Hot water bath can reduce anxiety and stress caused during period.

Good sleep:

When you are on your menstrual cycle, get 7-9 hours sleep. Lack of sleep may make you more irritable and may also result in intense pain.

Soft pain killers can help you lower the pain. Ask your doctor to prescribe any painkiller or you can also take common pain killers but of low mg.
