Sydney: The gorgeous looking 22-year-old Indian table tennis player Manika Batra who has won two gold medals for her country at the ongoing Commonwealth Games (CWG 2018) in ‎Australia’s Gold Coast city once got modelling offer before getting into professional table tennis game.

 

 

Miss Manika Batra of Delhi, who is leading Woman Table tennis in the 21st Commonwealth Games being played in the Gold Coast, has given the country 2 Gold, 1 Silver and Bronze Medal.

 

 

She became the first woman player to win 4 medals in the history of Indian table tennis game. In the Mixed Doubles Bronze Medal match, Manika along with Sathiyan Ganashekharan defeated pair of Sarat Kamal and Moma Das of their own country opposite to them.

 

 

Now, we would like to tell you all that Miss Manika before getting stepped into professional Table tennis games has got a modelling offer when she was in her college life but Manika opted for table tennis and declined modelling opportunity.

 

 

This information was revealed by Manika’s mother Sushma Batra who said that she is happy that her daughter chose the right path to do something for the country and did not entered in modelling industry.

 

 

Manika got the modelling offer:

 

 

Manika who is a resident of Narayana Vihar in Delhi, got a modelling offer while studying at GS & Mary College. She would have also made his career on this stardom side. But she continued her hard work in table tennis game professionally. Manika told that she is playing table tennis since the age of four.

She said, “I am lucky that because of my game, I got a chance to lead in Commonwealth Games and I have played the role of leader in CWG. It was a pleasant experience to beat both the top ranked players of Singapore, but in doubles It was a little disappointing with the defeat. ”

The advantage of training in Germany:

 

 

Manika told that before the Commonwealth Games, she participates in a one month long special training in Germany to win a medal. I used to be practice in improving fast service, smash and ball control in the game. He got the benefit of training in this Commonwealth Games.

Performance of Manika in Commonwealth Games:

 

 

Manika was successful in winning gold by defeating Singapore’s World Number-4 Feng Tenway (Women’s Team) and former World Number-9 Mengyu U (Singles). Manika had to face defeat in the doubles final of both of them.

* She won 3 gold at the 2016 Asian Games in Woman doubles category, mixed doubles with her team where she secured gold medal. She got quota in Rio Olympics. But in the first round of the Olympics suffered defeat.

 

 

* Manika became India’s first female player to reach the quarterfinals of the World Table Tennis Championships. She is currently India’s number one player.
